Amen, Tony Cornish, Amen

Remarking on the horrific crash in Kansas that took five lives and injured thirteen more, and the fact that a seventeen-year-old from Minnesota was apparently legally driving the 57,000 vehicle under Minnesota drivers license law, "veteran law man" and gun aficionado Tony Cornish is reluctant to change Minnesota licensing laws:

"This was an anomaly," Cornish said. "This almost never happens. Usually, motor home drivers are an older generation and experienced in driving these rigs. They are involved in very, very few accidents. 

I have no interest in a knee jerk reaction to one case, though tragic," he said. "The worst thing we can do is think we can solve all the world's problems with another law."

This quote is in the headline app I have on my phone. However, if you go to the Strib website, it is missing from the AP wire story. As is the quote from Sen. Warren Limmer, who also said he wasn't in favor of rushing into a change in the law either.

This was an anomaly; this almost never happens. The worst thing we can do is think we can solve all the world's problems with another law.

You'd almost think Cornish was talking about the need (or rather the lack of one) for photo ID for voters.

But you'd be wrong, of course.
