Dog bites man, apparently several times

This story in the Strib won't be up much longer, so Spot will rip the whole thing off. It's pretty short:

A man picked up Saturday by Minneapolis police for two outstanding warrants is in more trouble with the law after he attempted to choke a police dog, authorities said.

The suspect, 21, was riding in a car with a friend who was pulled over for drunken driving at 1:15 a.m. Saturday at 21st and Penn Avs. N. Police arrested the suspect after learning he had outstanding warrants in Hennepin County for carrying a gun in public and in Anoka County for fifth-degree domestic assault, said Lt. Amelia Huffman.

Somehow the suspect escaped after officers placed him in the back of a squad car. He led police on a foot chase. A police dog tracked the suspect to a nearby house where he was found hiding in the attic. Boldly, the suspect put his hands around the dog as if to break its neck, Huffman said.

"He was determined to get away," Huffman said. But police prevailed.

After the suspect was treated for dog bites, he was booked into the Hennepin County Jail and faces charges of escaping from police custody and assaulting a police K9.

Spot could have written that last paragraph with no access to the police report.

A thump of the tail to SJS.
