A Simple Question

How nuts would we have gone had the Soviets made a ginormous political issue out of the Cuban Missile Crisis in real time and on TV?

Mr. McCain says that "standing up" to Russia doesn't mean that we have to enter another Cold War. I, for one, don't think that McCain knows the first damn thing about Cold War history. If he did, the words "sphere of influence" would mean something. If you thought that getting involved in Iraq didn't fit into our national interests, you ain't seen nothing yet.

I know that this is the part of the game where the candidates get to put on their big boy clothes and pretend that they are sitting behind the desk, but we don't, and shouldn't care about Georgia to this extent.

Furthermore, who in their right mind thought that making this a campaign issue was a bright idea? We're locked in the middle of two wars that are largely against non-state interests and this guy wants to pick a fight with our good ol' buddies the Russians just to show people how tough he is. Scary. Absolutely scary.
