BAGHDAD (AP) - At least 127 US troops died in Iraq during May.

The military announced today that a soldier who was wounded in a roadside bombing Wednesday later died.

May stands as the third deadliest month for American forces since the Iraq war started. In April, 2004, 135 Americans died and 137 were killed in November, 2004.

The Associated Press count of US military deaths during the Iraq war is nearing 3,500.
